World explanation
Human persons, like everything else in the universe, are composed of atoms in the void

A life of moderation, in which people limit their desires to what is achievable, best leads to what he calls a good life.
The gods exist but they must be long-lasting combinations of atoms, like everything else. However, they are not as significant. Also they have little concern for humans. Realizing this we could
free ourselves from superstitious fears.
A good life for a human person consists in a state of contentedness in which the soul is “disturbed by no fear or superstition or any other emotion.
Rational thought should be the source of knowledge, not perception.
