A way to reduce the waste
Advantages:
Improve customers service through delivering accurately what they want
Improve productivity
Improve the quality by reducing the defects and reworking faulty goods
Shorter lead times, improving the competitive advantage
Safer work environment and organization
Disadvantages:
Only will be suitable for larger organization
Need to set good relationships with suppliers in order to co-ordinate and have JIT system
Employees who are not adapt the change will leave the job
Reduce unused talents
Reduce defects on products
Reduce inventories
Reduce extra processing
Reduce overproduction
Just in time (JIT)
A business does not keep inventories in a warehouse
Advantages:
Ordering the number of things it needs reduces the waste
Less use of warehouse reduces the cost of premises and staffs
Stock is less likely to go out of date
Improve the cash flow and have more money left
Disadvantages:
Cannot meet the unpredicted increasing demand
Cannot replace the damaged parts quickly
Requires the delivery to turn up in time, or it will be costly to stop the whole production line
