Digestive System
The Organs
-
Small Intestine
Deodenum- pancreatic juice and bile. Enzymes: amylase, trypsin, lipase. it also contains sodium hydrogencarbonate which reduces acidity of chime.
ileum- MSLPL- Maltase, sucrase, lactase, peptidase and lipase

-
Stomach- turns bolus into chyme. It begins to digest proteins by breaking them down into polypeptides. HCL kills any bacteria in food and it also stores the food for 1-2 hours
Pancreas- Makes pancreatic juice, and several enzymes which are secreted into the deodenum.

Types of Digestion
Mechanical digestion: Often the food an animal eats is in quite large pieces. These pieces of food need to be broken up by the teeth and by churning moments of the alimentary canal.
Chemical digestion: Once pieces of food have been ground up, the large molecules present are then broken down into smaller ones. This is called chemical digestion and involves a chemical change from one sort of molecule to another with the help of enzymes.
