bus topology
this is where all of the devices are connected in one line where there are terminals at each end, the devices sprout out from the big line

if one of the terminals break, this then leads to network reflection/refractionw which will ruin the users experiance on the network

ring network
this is where there a ring which houses of all of the different devices on the same line with no central switch

advantages
if one device disconnects, this does not effect any of the other devices

disadvantages
if the central switch disconnects, then this effects everyone

full mesh network
this is the idea of connecting every device to every other device, no central switch
advantages
if one of the lines/connections disconnects, this does not change anything as the network data can take a different route to the same computer

Ad Hoc topolgy
this is where all of the devices are connected wirelessly, this is a peer-to-peer network, where each device is responsible for their own security
