What is Noise Pollution?
Noise pollution is the propagation of noise throughout the environment.
Noise is any unwanted or disturbing sound.
The WHO defines noise above 65 decibels as noise pollution.
Harmful Effects of Noise Pollution
Noise pollution can have many detrimental effects on the well being of human beings.
Noise becomes harmful when it exceeds 75 decibels (dB) and is painful above 120 dB. Sounds at or below 70 dBA are generally considered safe.
Any sound at or above 85 dBA is more likely to damage your hearing over time.
Noise pollution can cause headaches, high blood pressure, anxiety and even heart attacks.
Noise pollution can cause psychological issues like stress, anxiety etc. This in turn causes lack of sleep.
