Globalisation

Globalisation: Increasing connections between countries.

North Korea is an example of a country that is "switched off". It barely has any connections with other countries and only trades with china. People can't leave North Korea and don't know what life is life outside of it. They are brainwashed into believing things that aren't necessarily true.

TNC's

The world is becoming increasingly connected due to globalisation. Only a little while ago you couldn't call someone who was on the other side of the world. Now you can. You couldn't go on holiday abroad and it was very rare too. Now you can and it is very common. Transport, containerisation and the invention of the internet, has excelled globalisation and we continue to become more globalised. Some countries more and faster than others.

Deserts

Thick shrubs, forest and vegetation. There are bears, deer, and hyena here. It receives lots of rainfall because it is usually by rivers and oceans where it rains more often. It receives the most amount of rainfall in the whole of the Middle East. Some examples of countries in the Middle east that have this climate are: Turkey, Iran and Syria.

Grasslands have low bushes, grass and few trees. People herd sheep and goats in the Grasslands. There are wild cats and boar there as well. It is close to the equator and that is why the grasslands don't receive a lot of rainfall. They receive more than the deserts though. Some examples of countries in the middle east that have this climate are: Turkey, Iran and Syria.

Vegetation is sparse in the desert and in some areas there is almost none. It is the area of the Middle East that receives the least rainfall. The climate is like this because it is very close to the equator. Some examples of countries in the Middle East that have this climate are: Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman and Iran.

TNC stands for: Trans National Corporation

Some companies make sweatshops in emerging countries where there is cheap employment for longer and harder labour. An example is Nike. Nike has sweatshops in emerging countries where the workers are treated harshly and receive little pay

Syria

Containerisation, transport (especially planes) and the invention of the internet, have all excelled the rate of globalisation.

Jordan

The population of the Middle East is increasing drastically. The current population of the Middle East is around 410 million, It is thought that by 2050 there will be 2.35 billion more people in the Middle East compared to 1950.

The distribution of the population in the midddle east is uneven due to its physical geography. It is densely populated in the Northern and coastal areas and also around the Nile river.

A 'region' is an area that has certain characteristics in common that make it unique.

It is a country that takes pride in being self-reliant and doesn't want to damage its power and control over its people. That is why people in North Korea are never allowed to leave the country, phone anyone outside it or have any form of social media or access to the internet.

Due to its lack of international trade or business talks, North Korea's GDP and wealth is not changing and it cannot afford too much longer to deny trade with countries. It will have to open up soon.
