Cell membrane - Coggle Diagram
Cell membrane
Active transport
Requires energy since molecules move against the concentration gradient
CP is gated but need ATP to release molecule to the other side
Cell Membrane is selectivetly permeable
Materials have 3 methods to cross it
Openings created via proteins
Osmosis
facilitated transport
Folding the cell membrane
active transport
endocytosis
exocytosis
Directly
Passive transport (diffusion)
LIPID BILAYER
a lipid bilayer prevents the diffusion of polar substances out of the inner compartment
solutes spontaneously diffuse from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration until everything is equally distributed (DIFFUSION)
6 Factors effecting during diffusion rate
Size/shape of the solute molecule
density/viscosity
concentration
Solubility
Temperature
Cytoplasmic stream (continuos movement of cytoplasm moves molecule around the cell)
Facilitated Transport
Follows the concentration gradient, so is a passive transport
4 Features
Carrier protein molecule is gated (undergoes a change)
Transports large polar molecules and charged ions
Glucose moves across the cell membrane in this manner
Doesn't request energy
