Aryza - Coggle Diagram

- - - - The company is considering the use of a new tool to ease their document generation processes. My job was to do some research on the newly considered tool and to come up with a Proof of Concept using the latter in order to see whether the company could indeed benefit from said tool and migrate over from their current document generation method.

    - - Encountered a lot a hurdles:

        Versioning and compatibility issues with the tool and MS Office Products
        
        Experience:
        
        Gained valuable insights and knowledge on how the document generation process works within Aryza
        
        Developed soft skills such as communication (both internally with other departments as well as with external companies)
  - - - Develop an internal tool that will help with the conversion of some files that come via SFTP from Hoist in .txt format, and need converting to xlsx to be then further processed.
    - - Appreciated the fact that they trusted and allowed an intern to work in the tool
        
        was given the liberty to use whichever programming language or method I felt like using so long I'd come up with a working tool; used python
        
        there were no major hurdles and it was a nice experience to finally work on something whereby there were real expectations and requirements.
  - - - Create a tool that would take in one or more excel files and parse their data in order to create a master file
    - - Most of the issues faced were due to inconsistency in the files provided by the client; the development of an automation tool more or less requires uniformity and having different files with different settings kept on causing issues.
        While most of the issues could/can be fixed, it would be a problem if the client keeps getting new issues due to lack of conformity among their files.

        2 options
        
        Modify the DLL to parse the table (TBL_CENTRAL_BANK_SUBMISSION_DATA_RUN) that holds the account data correctly in columns and output an error file to the user
        • Run validation rules on each record in this table
        • Most are simple e.g. mandatory field & max/in length
        • Eircode is probably trickiest e.g. try a regex https://stackoverflow.com/questions/33391412/validation-for-irish-eircode
        
        Test / Verify
        
        Create error file if errors found while passing table/generated report
        
        before generating the file do the validation check
        
        if any validation errors create validation file in same location as output file
        
        popup a message to the user that there are validation errors and open the validation file
        
        continue processing the file as normal
    - - Creating new fields proved to be quite a challenge as it first required me to locate where the data was being stored in the first place; had to rely heavily on the Support Department as they are the ones who usually worked with the product
        
        Had to work on and extend my prior knowledge of SQL.
        
        Learned more on Stored Procedures and SQL Server Management Studio
        
        would recommend updating some of the tables in the databases to conform with better headings to facilitate legibility and ease of access.
        
        Dealt with new things for the first time (Entity Framework, Regex with dotnet)
