This view is oftenly associated with Pythagoras since it is suggested that he used to study in Egypt. This belief was common in ancient Egypt too and many people state that this Pythagoras's view was infleunced by the people there. We can not be sure about that, what we know for sure is that the famous phylosopher believed in that theory.
