RTP- Pivotal Moment- Silence requested frequently during breakfast club
Power
is Mrs O on a power struggle?
being a breakfast club organiser she has lots of people telling her what to do daily and therefore may need to feel inclontrol of something i.e., the children.
however, should Mrs O be given more control over the things she's incharge of to avoid this
She has denied one boy breakfast as he came 10 minutes before the end of breakfast club- this boy has to travel along way using public transport. i then went and made him some breakfast for him to eat in class at the start of the day.
children cannot learn adequately without breakfast?
i then asked my Read Write Ink group if they all eat breakfast. half did not!
is this a due to a deprived area and not having food or not having time? the school day starts at 8:40 and breakfast club is free?
those without power often desire it.
Powerful women? or Women still struggling for power?
power as a student?
student power
under-staffed
There are only two members of staff running breakfast club the club is open for all EYFS and KS1. However, around 25 children ae present each morning.
This may mean the staff feel under appreciated and over worked and therefore more likely to become hostile towards the people of the school
although same amount of staff that we have in our classroom with less children
Behaviour management isn't for everyone
unqualified members of staff caring for children
Mrs O has no qualifications in childcare
school rules?
i questioned weather this was school policy with my CM she highlighted how the person who ran it last time made the children read in silence at breakfast club- no talking at all
healthy conversation is a skill many children will not attain if they do not learn it
modern age of teachnology?
7:30 too early?
