Carbon and biomolecules
Characteristics
Carbon in the periodic table is found between the carbonids, with atomic number 6, atomic mass 12.01 and is represented by the symbol C.
It is a non-metallic element and is a good conductor of electricity when in the form of graphite.
Coal is a solid, black or dark brown combustible mineral that contains essentially carbon, as well as small amounts of hydrogen and oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, and other elements.
It is possible to find traces of carbon and hydrocarbons on distant planets, such as the gas giants of the Solar System, without pointing to any kind of constitution of organic life that we know of.
Compounds
The carbon has a total of six electrons two in the lower level of energy and four in the higher level
Carbon (mainly), hydrogen and oxygen are the major components of carbon, although it also has sulfur, nitrogen, and other elements. Due to its composition, coal is combustible (that is, it combines with oxygen, giving off heat)
Example:
things where we can find the coal
pencils.
