Conditions of the Hemolymphatic System
Hypoplasia
X-linked SCID
(severe immunodeficiency)
🐎
🚫 Recombination of antigen receptor = 🚫 receptor diversity in lymphocytes
🧪
Hypoglobunemia
Small LN
Intact lymphogens without Antigen receptors (differ from 🐕)
🐕
🧪
Lymphopenia
⬇️ Globulins
🚫 No IL2,4,7,9,15 production = 🚫 Cytotoxic lymphocyte or plasma cell production
Clinical Presentation
Ignore in young animals (maternal ab)
Prone to opportunistic infections
Hyperplasia (Reactive Lymphoid Hyperplasia)
Follicular hyperplasia (B cells)
Paracorticol hyperplasia (T-cells)
Sinus histiocytosis (Macrophages et al)
Systemic immune activation
Clinical Signs
Hypoglobuenmia
⬆️ immunoglobulins
Lymphocytosis (transient)
Systemic infection indicators
Fibrinogen
C reactive protein
Amyloid A
Inflammation/Infection
Inflammation = tender lymph nodes
Acute inflmattory response
L: Albumin; H: Globulins
Anaplasmosis (Ehrlichiosis)
Subclinical Disease
Months - years
Organism restircted spleen (hard to find)
Dogs appears normal
Chronic Disease
Weight loss, neuro signs
Cytopenia, edema, hyperglobulinemia
Acute Disease
Replicates in leukoctes
Enlarged spleen, LNs, anemia (chronic inflammation) & malaise
1-3wk post infection
