New Zara Policy: Updating and Reviewing current technologies

Purpose: To prevent Zara stores and facilities from falling behind in terms of their technology (current problem in case study)

Policy Details: Every 3-6 months, the CIO or other specified IT position, will evaluate each major technology that is used at Zara and give details on the following

Is this piece of technology still supported by its creators?

Is this piece of technology failing to meet some of its requirements?

If not, are there third party vendors that Zara could call upon if needed?

Are there any newer alternatives to this piece of technology?

If yes, list this technology with its unique features or improvements over the current solution used at Zara

Will this be able to be fixed by the first party supplier or can Zara develop a solution?

Policy Applies to

CIO or IT position that will review current technology

All major technology components used at Zara

All personnel at Zara that are using this technology

If no, Zara should seek to replace this technology

If this new piece of technology seems to be significantly better than the current solution, a cost analysis should be performed to investigate implementing this new piece of technology

If no, Zara should seek to replace this technology

Who is responsible for this policy

CIO or other high ranking IT position will be responsible for enforcing this policy

How policy will be implemented: CIO will present a list of each major piece of technology used at Zara and present any newer alternatives to the IT department every 3-6 months
