The role of the costume designer is to be in charge of an actor's dress wear and to design it. That way it can pertain to a storyline or tradition. The two terms that stood out to me the most are costume renderings (a series of sketches, paintings, or collages) and a dress rehearsal (the last step for the costume designer to see all the exploration, research, collaboration-
on, planning, construction, fittings, and finishing). The reason why I picked costume renderings is that the sketches, paintings, and collages give me great memories during my performances in middle school. I mainly drew and sketched many clothes for the different characters that I played as or imagined. As for dress rehearsal, I also experienced observing the finishing works that the costume designer has manufactured as an actor. Mainly for the Grinch who stole Christmas, looking at the different costumes of the Grinch, the people of Whoville, and many others has given me mindful
(-Dexter Coburn) moments.
