Aneurysm, trauma, AVM, coagulopathy, vasculitis, or drugs leads to spontaneous rupturing of a blood vessel. The rupturing leads to hemorrhaging into the brain tissue. The excess blood within the brain tissue leads to complications such as edema, increase in ICP, and spasms of local blood vessels. A space-occupying lesion forms and impedes brain function. The impaired cerebral function ultimately leads to infarction and likely coma/death.
