Perception
Indirect realism
We see the world indirectly through a veil of perception, where immediate objects are mind-dependent perceptions, that are caused by and represent mind independent objects. We see the real world indirectly.
Sense data is an important facet of this- we rely on sense data to give us an interpreation of the real world.

Direct Realism
The idea that we see the world as it, with no intermediary. Objects are made of matter, and matter is what we see.
Objects retain their properties whether or not there is anyone to see them.
