HTTP is an acronym for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol is a system that is used to transmit and receive information from a server
HTTPS a secure transfer system that encrypts the data before the connection is formed for sending or retrieving the data from the server (also known as HTTP with secure socket layer (SSL)
By using HTTPS the computers agree on a “code” between them, and then they scramble the messages using that “code” so that no one in between can read them
