mechanics
wizard with spells
upgrade your spells with currency earned by completing dungeons
first spell (basic spell you start with): fireball
fast moving projectile, only damages the enemy it touches with a small splash affect with low damage to enemies around it
second spell: bomb spell
slow moving, bounces off walls 2 times, blows up on either 3rd wall impact- hitting an enemy or traveling for 7 seconds (time subject to change based on speed and map size) splash damage and high damage output. big mana intake
spells have mana usage with a mana bar that recharges.
armour and spell upgrade system
different robes that give you more or less armour
can give you benefits like more damage or maybe more mana
buy new spells or upgrade their damage or range
object that transports you between multiple worlds
something that lets the character change between the 2 dimentions
spell that the wizard does. flash of light and then your in the other world
object the character hold and shakes
has a cooldown on it stopping you from changing too much
takes a heart of damage maybe
character hold torch/fireball
lights up around you. you cant see anything apart from what's lit up. some torches around which also light things up
some sort of magic spell that the mage uses (fireball or staff)
story
you have been tasked by the local village to clear all the dungeons and get the hearts of the boss to trade in. In return you get a reward
you go through the dungeons going into the parallel world to complete the challenges. Every time you beat a dungeon you get the hearts of your enemies that you can trade in to the village. The mage of the village gives you upgrades or new spells in return for the hearts
If you go into the village in the normal world the civilians seem nice and joyful, people are out walking and talk to you. If you are in the other world (the hell like world) then no villagers are out walking and you can see people peaking through their windows. Their houses are the same but more creepy or dark.
The other wizard is the only person you see in his shop but he has dark eyes and looks very creepy - he acts friendly with an undertone of evil that gets more and more the more hearts you bring him. his appearance also gets worse the more hearts you bring him.
the player gets a choice of endings
curiosity ending
at the end of the game you bring the finale heart to him and for curiosity you stick around (using an invisibility spell you learn) because you suspect something is up. you watch as all the towns people come out and perform a ritual with the heart (all the townspeople are deformed and evil looking - zombie like).
good ending
you do your finale fight using all your spells to beat the people in the town to fight the finale boss (the wizard). you kill him and take his power. it corrupts you and you start the cycle again but your the shop wizard
bad ending
you join them in the ritual and also gain the power/ corruption. it takes over you and you fight the wizard for power. the people watch as they do not have a side. you win and it ends like the good ending
in both endings you find out the dungeons had the true towns people in before they were driven out by the cult leader wizard and his followers. you find out you killed innocent people and it helps in the corruption of you.
head home without worrying
the true good ending
you leave and go home with your new power not worrying. the game ends without the corruption taking over you and the player is unaware of what was happening in the village
dungeon puzzle ideas
tutorial dungeon
basic couple room dungeon that introduces you to attack, the multiple world feature and the manna system. There is a boss at the end
the first room introduces you to controls and has a barrier that needs to b attacked to open it up
the second room has some un-moving skeletons and an unbreakable barrier. this makes you go to the other world where the skeletons come alive and start to attack (the barrier is no longer there)
