Geology, the entire region is underlain by the sedimentary rock chalk exposed in places the base of Cliffs at Overstrand.
The chalk is thick glass used sediment deposited buy ice sheets from Scandinavia during the last glacial period.
-
historic cold periods associated with a build up of snow and ice and the growth of ice sheets and glaciers.
Cromer Ridge - 100m ridge just inland from Cromer. - is a terminal moraine, a glacial deposition that marks the furthest extent of ice advance.
Sands and gravels deposited by meltwater streams are found along parts of the coast to the west of the region.
till - unsorted glacial sediment - forms thick deposits along much of the coast, spreading some distance inland.

climate, in geological terms, changes in climate, have a significant impact on the North Norfolk coast.
-
Exposed to geomorphic processes, this has been rapidly eroded in the east and re - distributed in the West.
The present-day climate of the reigon is relitiveley dry with warm summes and occasionally cold winters
geomorphic process
Geomorfic processes operate at diffrent scales, both spatially (space)and temporally (time).
the following list includes a few of the qeomorfic processes seen on the north norfolk coast.
The north norfolk coast is exposed to powerful waves from the north-east, the direction of maximun fech (over 4000 km).
When the winds come from the north east, waves are at their most powerfull.
longshore drift predominantlay operates from the east to the west aling this strech of coastline, although opposing currents transport sediment southwards along the coast of england arounf the wash.
mechanical weathering processes such as freese thaw and mass moverment (paricularly slumping) are very active on the cliffs in the east of the reigion particulary between overstrand and happisbrough.

the north norfolk coast is located in east anglia in the east of england.
its a low - lying trech of coastline with a variety of habitats , including broad sandy beaches ,salt marshes, sand dewns and some streches of cliffed coastline, particularly east of cromer.
Till is unsorted and unstratified drift, generally overconsolidated, deposited directly by and underneath a glacier without subsequent reworking by water from the glacier. It consists of a heterogenous mixture of clay, sand, gravel, and boulders varying widely in size and shape (diamicton).
