Land Ownership: Bourgeoisie controlled 25% of land, Peasants controlled 32% of the land
Proportion of the French population: 99% of the population. Bourgeoisie (2-8%), Urban workers (6%), Peasants (85%)
Privileges: No privileges. 3rd Estate bore the burden of the other two estates; it produced nearly all the wealth of France and paid nearly all the taxes
Occupation: Commoners, Bourgeoisie, Urban works, Peasants

The Second Estate
Occupation: Nobility
Privileges: Exempted from tax, tried in separate courts (decapitation), exempted from military service, the gabelle (salt tax) and corvee (forced labour on roads), exclusive rights to hunting
