Predictions based on what we think, believe or imagine: We will probably see Bryan at the party tonight
Promises, threats, warnings, hopes and offers: I promise that we will go on holiday next year
Actions, events and situations which will definitely happen in the future: María's daughter will be seven years old this month

Used for
Plans, intentions or ambitions: Peter's going to be an architect when he finishes university
Actions that we have already decided to do in the near future: Laura is going to visit her friends in Glasgow tomorrow
Predictions based on what we can see or what we know, especially when there is evidence that something will happen: It's very cold today; the pond is going to freeze tonight

Used for
Actions which will be in progress at a stated future time: This time next week we'll be swimming off the coast of Spain
Actions which will definitely happen in the future as a result of a routine or arrangement: Mr Uribe will be having a meeting in Paris on Friday
When we ask politely about someone's plans for the near future: Will you be ordering anything else, sir?
