Requirements:

- a steel chamber with no oxygen, in order to prevent combustion
- Al2O3 catalyst

- Heating halogenoalkane with ethanolic sodium hydroxide. This will remove the hydrogen halide and will give alkene as the product.

- Dehydrate alcohol by using a catalyst under heat, such as Al2O3, or by using concentrated acid.
