Virtual Private Network (VPN) - Coggle Diagram
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Definition -encrypted connection over the Internet from a device to a network.
How it works - extends a corporate network through encrypted connections made over the Internet.
Features - extends a private network across a public network and enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks
Site to Site
Definition - connection between two or more networks, such as a corporate network and a branch office network
Features - will be configured on the routers of the networks being connected.
How it woks - connection offers two VPN tunnels between a virtual private gateway or a transit gateway on the AWS side, and a customer gateway (which represents a VPN device) on the remote (on-premises) side
Remote access
Defintion - enables users who are working remotely to securely access and use applications and data that reside in the corporate data center and headquarters, encrypting all traffic the users send and receive
Features - remote employees can log on to your office network from anywhere
How it works -, users can connect to the intended private network and access their resources with the help of a VPN client, which may be web-based or software.
Routing Information Protocol (RIP)
Definition -Routing Information Protocol is a vector routing protocol that uses the hop countas the routing unit for finding the most suitable path between the source and the destination.
Features -sends routing-update messages at regular intervals and when the network topology changes.
How it works -protocol that routers can use to exchange network topology information
Network Address Translation
How it works - process or technique used to change IP address and TCP port numbers by an intermediate device like firewall, router, modem
Features -address translation and security for networking systems
Definition - an Internet standard that enables a local-area network (LAN) to use one set of IP addresses for internal traffic and a second set of addresses for external traffic.
Network Policy Server (NPS)
Definition -Network Policy Server allows you to create and enforce organization-wide network access policies for connection request authentication and authorization.
How it works - uses network policies and the dial-in properties of user accounts to determine whether a connection request is authorized to connect to the network.
Features - RADIUS proxy,RADIUS server.RADIUS accounting
