Cranial Nerves:
I: Olfactory Nerve: Sensory involving smells
II: Optic Nerve: Sensory involving vision
III: Oculomotor Nerve: 2 Motor Functions - Muscle Function: Provide muscle function to most eye muscles.
- Pupil Response: Controls pupil size
IV: Trochlear Nerve: Controls the rest of the eye muscles
V: Trigeminal Nerve: Largest nerve and has 3 divisions- Ophthalmic: Sends info from the upper half of your face
- Maxillary: Sends info from the middle of your face
- Mandibular: Sends info from lower portion of your face, and controls jaw/ear muscles.
VI: Abducens Nerve: Controls outward eye movements
VII: Facial Nerve: Provides sensory & Motor Functions
VIII: Vestibulocochlear Nerve: 2 Sensory Functions
- Cochlear Portion: Detect Vibration from sounds
- Vestibular Portion: Track linear and rotational movement of your head, to help with balance.
IX: Glossopharyngeal Nerve: Contains Motor and Sensory Functions for the throat, tounge, etc.
X: Vagus Nerve: Contains Sensory and motor functions for throat towards the chest.
XI: Accessory Nerve: Controls the neck muscles.
XII: Hypoglossal Nerve: Movement of tongue muscles.
