Enzymes
-
-
Types of models
-
Induced Fit
-
creates tension by pushing or pulling, this tension created reduces the activation energy
Factors
-
-
-
[Substrate] (Reaction occurs but if too much substrate is added, the maximum capacity of the enzyme is reached)
-
-
-
Bonds (Enzyme-substrate bonds) Enzymes attaches or breaks the bonds (Depends on the type of reaction)
-
-
-
Anabolic Reaction
Builds up substrate, by using bonds of substrate (Enzyme Substrate Complex) (makes a product)
-
-
Photosynthesis
Purpose
-
-
The purpose of Photosynthesis is to convert radiant (light) energy to a chemical potential energy in the form of Glucose, this Glucose can be used for basic cellular processes such as respiration.
Respiration
Purpose
-
What happens
Aerobic Respiration
Glycolysis (Glucose Splitting into 2), then made into pyruvate then into 2x ATP
(Glycolysis happens first). More Pyruvate is made and diffuses out of the cytoplasm and into the outer membrane of the mitochondria then diffuses into the inner membrane then into the matrix, the pyruvate is then made into 2x ATP. (This is known as the Krebs cycle).
(Glycolysis happens again). More pyruvate is made and diffuses out of the cytoplasm and diffuses into the outer membrane of the mitochondria and diffuses into the inner membrane, then into the cristae (Electron Transport Chain) of the mitochondria, the pyruvate is then made into 32x ATP, therefore a total of 36x ATP.
Anaerobic Respiration
Glycolysis (Glucose Splitting into 2), then made into pyruvate then into 4x ATP

The purpose of respiration is to convert a chemical potential energy (Glucose) to higher form of chemical potential energy in the form of ATP, this ATP can be used for basic cellular processes
