Motion - Coggle Diagram
Motion
Acceleration
change in velocity per second
a = v-u/t
a = acceleration - m/s2
v = final velocity - m/s
u = initial velocity - m.s
t = time taken for change - s
Deceleration - negative - change of velocity per second - slowing down
Velocity time graphs
A motion sensor linked to a computer can be used to measure velocity changes
Shows the velocity of an object against time taken.
Gradient of a line = acceleration
Horizontal line - acceleration is zero
a
Velocity and acceleration
Displacement - the distance travelled in a given direction
Velocity - speed in a given direction
Scalar quantities - magnitude only - speed and distance
Vector - magnitude and direction - velocity and displacement
Speed and distance time graphs
Speed
V = S/t
V = the speed in meters per second, m/s
S = the distance travelled in meters, m
t = the time in seconds, s
Rearrange the equation to s = v x t or t = s/v
Distance time graphs
A distance time graphs shows the distance of an object from a starting point against the time taken.
The gradient of the line on a distance-time graph represents speed, speed is the distance covered per unit of time
If an object is stationary, the gradient is zero. horizontal line.
If an object is moving at a constant speed, a straight line sloping upwards
the steeper the gradient the greater the speed
Motion graphs
Magnitude - size of amount of physical quantity
