Karura Forest
The Karura forests is a beautiful forest situated right in the centre of Nairobi, In the forest you can see anything from beautiful butterflies in exotic colours to the caves where the resistance fighters in Kenya called the Mau Mau hid from colonial forces. If you feel like taking a walk, a run or cycling then this is the perfect spot to do it as Karura forest has over 50 km of tracks and you won't have too worry about dangerous animals as they are kept out using an electrical fence.
If you are lucky enough to be here during the rain season you are in for a treat. Thats because the waterfalls turn orange from the soil which during the rainy season end up in the rivers and turns the water orange. If you are exhausted after a long day then there is also a cafe here where you can rest your legs or take a cup of coffee
I suppose most of you don't know about the Mau - Mau also known as the kenyan land and freedome army. They where fredom fighters in Kenya. fighting to reclaim the Kenyan land which white settlers and colinizers had taken for themselves. The Mau - Mau where active from 1952 - 1956 after which they went into hiding. The uprising was lost due to the leader of the Mau Mau being captured. Most of the Mau Mau where from the kikuyu tribe and in the uprising that the mau mau started almost 12000 afrikans where killed whilst only a few hundred British died. The Mau Mau where still operating whilst in hiding and the last leader was killed in 1963 short after kenya had gotten it's independence.

The Masai Mara is one of the most well known safari parks in the world. Although it may not be the largest park in Kenya it does border to the serengeti park in Tanzania, one of the biggest parks in the world, meaning that together with serengeti this is one of the most well known largest parks in the world. And if you are lucky you might see a giraff with it's tongue out
Even after spending the entire day in the park you might not feel done here, if that is the case than you can spend the night at one of the parks amazing luxurious camps. Here you will be right amongst the action, but don't worry the camps have specially trained park rangers in case of emergencies. The camps will over you one of the best ways to relax throughout the night inorder to be ready with energy for another day in the Masai Mara

Nairobi
Welcome to Nairobi and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport :tada:, I hope you had a good flight! While we're on the bus to the city i thought I'd give you some quick facts about Nairobi.
Hopefully you all know that Nairobi is the capital of Kenya. But do you know what the name means? It comes from Enkare Nairobi witch the Maasai people had named a waterhole. Enkare Nairobi means Cold Water. The Maasai people are one of the indigenous tribes in Kenya and northern Tanzania. They're known internationally because they live close to the many national parks that many safaris go through but also for their colorful clothes. They'd be happy to show you their customs and settlements for a small fee. If you want you could also buy some jewelry while visiting them.
Maybee one or two of you even know that the city is also known as the Safari Capital of The world because of the many safaris that start in or close to the city. Another name for the city is the Green City in the Sun because of the many forests in and around the city.
I hope have made up your mind on where to stay but for the ones of you that have not done your planning we will make sure you get lodging in one of the many great hotels. Nairobi offers both big luxurious 5 star hotels but also smaller more cosy hotels that still give you an amazing stay.
A big bonus is the closeness to the Karura Forest.
Ballon Safari
If you too want to visit Maasai Mara but with the perspective of a bird many hot air balloon safaris are arranged every day. They give you a truly unique safari experience and enables you to see even more hard to spot animals without disturbing or spooking them.
