The parable of the Wedding Banquet - part 2
By Erica 9A
must remember
great value of home
place which a man come in order to go out and be refreshed again
a place which renders him unfit for life then it is failing in its function and is misusing it
our homes should not shut us away from the claims of God
it should strengthen us better to discharge them
new testament insists that christians must be given hospitality
homes are given to us to share our happiness with others, not only for our own selfish happiness
specially with those who are not as fortunate as us
the insiduos excuses
all reasons the guests gave for not accepting the invitation were in themselves good reason
one of the great dangers in life is the good things coming between us and Christ
if tempting things always looks good, we will seldom fall
most insidious temptation is to let the good interfere with the best
If we put the claim of Jesus first, we will be safe from danger
Those who came
second half of the parable is about those who came
In Luke, it is shown that most of those persons were drawn from the lower ranks of life
Those who would not come
other than refusing to come, those who were invited did not merely reject the invitation
mistreated and killed some messangers
this resulted in the king sending an army to to destroy and burn the murderer's city
was not they could not come, but it's because the would not
because they despised the king and was hostile to him
the invitation was not the first one they received
no excuse for the guests to not arrange their schedule properly
those who reject the gospel invitation has equally flimsy excuses
most say they are too busy for spiritual things
