In California, the cost of living is higher than the average cost of living in the United States. Because of this high cost of living, schools and districts can afford fewer teachers, staff, and necessary resources. This also translates to larger class sizes with less support for each individual student to help guarantee academic success. Salaries to provide for staff and teachers, consequently, make up for majority of the school's budget, thus leaving many Californian students with inadequate educational supplies (Hahnel, 2020)
