Ecosystems
The spheres
Hydrosphere - water
Atmosphere - Air
Biosphere - All living things
Lithosphere - Solid earth
Ecosystem
Non- living surroundings - Abiotic
Living inhabitants - Biotic
Food Chain
An example of a food chain shows how energy passes from one organism to another. It shows the feeding relationship between organisms.
Producers
The sun producers energy that plants convert into glucose( chemical energy)
A plant for example is known as a producer because it produces its own food.
Consumers
An example of a consumer is an animal because they are not able to use the sun's energy to make food.
Types of Consumers herbivores, Carnivores and Omnivores.
Trophic Levels
The start of a trophic is the producer, which is trophic level 1.
Trophic level three = omnivore
Trophic level two = herbivore
Trophic level four = carnivore
Trophic level one = Producer
Food webs
A food web is a visual way to show how energy flows through all of the organisms in the ecosystems.
Roles of Organisms
One organism will transfer or interact with another organism to help the ecosystem.
Example: Animals spread seeds from the feces.
Decomposers
Bacteria, fungi and invertebrates.
They break down dead organisms to release nutrients into the soil.
Fragile food webs
If an organism is removed from a food web, it affects organisms both up and down from it.
Indicator species can indicate when a change has happened in their habitat.
