Blondes 'to die out in 200 years' United Kingdom
Friday, 27 September, 2002
Play devils advocate, what opposing view could be expressed?
1.) The scientists who provided information for this article could have been looking at this study literally, and treating blondes as if they were animals to accurately show their findings.
2.) What if the people at BBC initially got their information wrong, but played it off for another 4 years to seem like they were still a reliable source that stuck to their word?
1.) Personally, I do not think this article should have been green-lit. The information is false, sexist, misleading, and idiotic. Blondes are stereotypically an insult, and they are dehumanized in this article.
2.) The reason I have formed this opinion is because I, myself, am personally a natural blonde and a woman. For blondes to be treated as animals and have false information provided about them makes this article completely unnecessary and stupid.
How could using a balance in research and reporting tactics have made a difference in the outcome of what was reported?
2.) The article could have referred to the blonde gene more often than they did, instead of referring to it as 'blondes'. They also could have showed both pictures of men and women who have blonde hair.
1.) A credible source of research information could come from quantitative research. The evidence given in this article has no numbers to back it up, but rather just the word of 'experts' in Germany and college professors.
1.) I'm confused as to how a huge news network like the BBC can let a hoax like this get out of hand.
2.) I personally consider the article quite sexist. The article only show pictures of blonde women while also treating blonde people as animals, calling them 'endangered'.
3.) I find it very unprofessional for this article to name names of people who have no correlation to the topic of the article.
1.) This article talks about blonde people as if they were animals, not humans.
