April: Stalin is elected with the role of General Secretary of the Bolsheviks

15th party conference saw Trotsky, Zinoviev and Kamenev join up to tackle the right and Stalin. This was known as the 'United opposition'.

December: Stalin and the right begin their attack on Zinoviev
April: Stalin's policy became really popular amongst party members and the right wings as it fit with NEP. Because of this Stalin allies himself with the right and Bukharin
During the 13th Congress Zinoviev, Kamenev and Stalin join forces to takedown Trotsky. Towards the end of 1924, Stalin revealed his 'Socialism in one country' policy to attack Lenin's idea of 'Permanent revolution'.
21st January: Lenin's death.
January 4th: A postscript is added to the testament which heavily criticizes Stalin.
December: Lenin after his second stroke writes his Testament. A 'Letter to the party congress'.
Official founding of the Union of Soviet socialist republics as the end of the civil war was approaching.
