Case of Marcel Newgard
Evidence Analysis
Polygraphs
While this is not reliable evidence, the polygraph tests suggest that Aiden and Kay may have had some role in the incident
Aiden Santory appears to be lying in his answers to questions 5 and 6 based on his increased heart rate to both questions. He also recorded a higher respiratory rate to question 5 and a lower respiratory rate to question 6. This may indicate he saw Marcel after 3:50 p.m. on Friday and possibly killed Marcel.

Kay Litrell appears to be lying in her answers to questions 5 and 6 based on her increased heart rates and somewhat increased respiratory rates. This may indicate she saw Marcel after 10:00 pm on Friday and possibly killed Marcel.

-
Heart Autopsy
Small amount of white fluid in/on the heart, rest of the heart appears normal
-
Toxicology
-
Alongside the report, it had shown Acetaminophen at 20 mg/L, a therapeutic dosage. Also, caffeine at 65 mg/L, nonfatal
Dentist asked Marcel to take a pain reliever (Acetaminophen) for his abscessed tooth #

Hair
The hair found at the scene is very similar to Kay Litrell’s and Aiden Santori, since they don’t have the non-visible medulla, their cuticles weren’t present, and they both have the similar type of hair color.
Kay Litrell
Aiden Santori
Unknown Hair
Fingerprints
The first fingerprint on the baseball bat, would have to be Marcel’s due to his loop pattern being the only one out of all the suspects
-
The second fingerprint would be Aiden’s as he has a whorl pattern, but the prints on the baseball bat have the cuts in the print, which Aiden has.

Time of Death
Based on the decomposition of the body, the greenish discoloration of the body, and the rigor mortis not present: the decedent’s time of death is approx. 2:00 am Saturday.
While the analyzing evidence such as the fly, its eggs, and using the Glaister equation , their results couldn’t make sense due to the timeline, possibly having varying results due to the higher temperature in the garage.
With using the Glaister equation, it would mean that the decedent had died in a matter of hours.
This wouldn't make sense as the flies, on the other hand, showed evidence that suggests that the decedent had died about 47 hours from 2:00 PM Sunday
-
Basically meaning that he would have "died" on Friday at 1:00 PM, when this is false seeing that there was activity from his phone before and after this time. #
Digital Evidence
Marcel had gotten home from work at 10:28 pm, Friday, his last known appearance was at 10:50 pm, Friday when he texted Cam about batting practice. Which means that everything had went accordingly until after 10:50, where he hadn't shown up for his shifts at his workplace. This means that he died somewhere between 10:50 (Friday) , and 2:00 (Sunday)
The only in-person-interaction that he might've had was with Aiden, as he had mentioned that he would be seeing Marcel before he went off to work.

Case Overview
Brief
Police headquarters received a call from Naomi Lee, who was calling to request a well-being check on Marcel Newgard. Newgard is a 23-year-old graduate student from the local university; and he was found dead upon arrival with his face down in his garage.
Time was between 1:30 - 2:00 AM, 10/31/21
Scene
Marcel Newgard found dead in the middle of his garage right next to a white car. The car has a dent in it's left passenger side with a red substance. There is another red substance found on the baseball bat a few inches away from the decedent, along with a cellphone near his side. Along the face of the decedent, a spatter of a red substance can be found trailing from his forehead primarily and from his nose. Under the car, there is a lone piece of gum that can be found.
Time of Death
Based on the decomposition of the body, the greenish discoloration of the body, and the rigor mortis not present: the decedent’s time of death is approx. 2:00 AM Saturday (10/30/21)
Other pieces of information were available though did not make sense given the times that they gave and evidence present
Glaister Equation hadn't worked due to the hot temperature in the garage, giving us a time of death that would be too short in relation to the state of his body
Using flies/eggs to deduce the time of death gave us a range of time that wouldn't make sense with the evidence from his phone
Digital Evidence

Brief Explanation
Given the evidence, it is plausible that Marcel was killed when he had consumed the fatal dosage of a chemical found in rat poison. #
The evidence shows two people that could have been at the crime scene when Marcel had died, being Aiden Santori and Kay Litrell
Aiden Santori
Aiden Santori is a new friend of Marcel # which doesn't give much of a motive for Santori to be the one who did it.
However, there are strands of hair and fingerprints that pin him to being there at the scene of the crime.
The hair can be explained as Aiden had notified Marcel that he was going to meet up with him on Friday, hence the strands of hair that can be found that could be like his. #
The fingerprints could be explained by Aiden rummaging around Marcel things, possibly touching his bat in the process. #
Other than that, there is no real reasoning behind Aiden being the one to do it, since there's no real motive for him to do so, and the reasonings can be cleared up logically.
Granted, Cam didn't have the best sense of Aiden's first impressions when he had went through his stuff - That was merely speculation
Kay Litrell
Kay is a coworker at the Biotic Bistro restaurant that Marcel works at, and had wrote an email to him, accusing him of stealing her tips. #

There is no evidence to support the other suspects being a part of the investigation other than knowing the decedent and being in contact with him before his untimely death. They had no evidence to support they were there at the time that he was killed, and they were all on good terms with the decedent.
