        Provide auxiliary aids: interpreters, real-time computer aided transcription services (CART), close captions on TV, and videophones

        Protects Deaf children and youth as it applies to school systems and public or private educational agencies that receive federal financial assistance, including free lunch programs (Rosenbaum et al., 2016).

        Replaced the unpopular law that required states to set up strict testing accountability systems, No Child Left Behind (NCLB, 2001)
        
        ESSA is the law for K-12 public education in the U.S.: gives states more flexibility in determining academic standards, annual testing and school accountability.
