Guangdong has a humid subtropical climate with short winters that provide long growing seasons for crops so crop yields are higher and the excess can be traded globally.
The majority of the Guangdong Province is covered by forest which provides a natural carbon capture system for the region to offset some carbon emissions. The forests show that orchards can thrive in this area, improving the agricultural output for Guangdong.

Singapore is in the Riau Archipelago where it is in close proximity to many other fast growing countries in South East Asia such as India and China which facilitates trade and encourage businesses into the city which increases connections globally.

Tourism is a major industry in Singapore. It provided 8.6% of the country's employment and contributed to 4% of Singapore's GDP in 2019. Although tourism is a huge employer in Singapore, its relatively small GDP output shows that the country does not depend on it as there are a range of industries.
Singapore has a low unemployment rate that fell as low as 1.8% in the first quarter of 2015. The people of Singapore have a huge range of workforce skills which creates a higher output for the economy.

Singapore has a number of free trade agreements (FTAs) and economic partnership agreements (EPAs) with many countries agreeing to them which appeals to foreign businesses and increase connections within Singapore.
Singapore is a member of the ASEAN Free Trade Area which has many sub categories such as the ASEAN-India FTA and the ASEAN-New Zealand FTA which helps boost trade and increase connections.

Due to Singapore being a city-state country, there is little rural land or wilderness to isolate the country to the rest of the world.
