The difference between rioting and protesting is that protesting is when people disagree with a law, idea, or policy, while a riot is more violent and a disturbance to the people that live within those streets or cities. A riot can result in injury to a property of anyone or can also result in injury to a person. Although some states have a restricted law for rioting, some of the people don't follow the law and end up destroying a bunch of properties. Protesting shouldnt be violent but some people could potentially make it violent, but as long as they don't most people think of it as a peaceful protest because of the non violence. It depends on the situation that people are rioting for, like if you are rioting for your rights when your voices are not heard I think that is a pretty good idea to make sure people with other opinions get heard. In another case rioting can end in a serious injury. It can potentially kill a person or people, I think it could be better to talk it out with the people. If they still dont hear you then maybe you could riot but you would have to be careful because it can cause death. I think rioting could help in some ways, but in others not so much.
