Statistics and Studies
Guns may induce violent tendencies due to the mental priming that is associated with it (Stroebe, 2015 pp.7).
"Weapon Effect" experiment
People acted more aggravated when in presence of a gun then with badminton equipment
The likelihood of unintentional shootings and suicides are deeply correlated with gun ownership (Miller et. al, 2002; Miller et. al 2013).- More specific
Unintentional Shootings
Accidental Shootings from Children
Data from Miller's Studies regarding the differences
Alec Baldwin’s accidental shooting (may not include this)
The likelihood of gun related suicides is almost guarantee as it has a 90% fatality rate (Miller et. al, 2013 pp.951).
People do not get a second chance from firearm suicide when compared to other means, like drugs or cutting . (Stroebe, 2015)
3% fatality rate compared to 90%
Changes in the number of guns owned did not impact other forms of suicide
What can be done about it?
Vote for unbiased laws (Pierre, 2019)
Universal Background Checks
Red Flag Laws
Have better gun safety practices
Better gun storage
Store it way from children
Training in gun safety
Promote discussion among gun enthusiasts in an attempt to support gun laws
Seek help if a loved one is facing the effects of gun violence
Provide mental support for children to help them cope easier
Does Gun Culture Effect this Issue? (Might not include this)
While gun culture does not directly lead to gun violence, the effects of gun culture may blind people’s judgement towards gun control (Stroebe, 2015)

Impacts the way Americans purchase guns
Must try to make it sound as if I am unbiased towards gun culture

Almost 100 Americans are killed per day
It is being ignored and other factors are being blamed, despite it being false
The NRA
(Will subtly mention them to not invoke a negative reaction)
