PHSA's one system of care approach - Coggle Diagram
PHSA's one system of care approach
01 Clinical policy
Look at provincial standardization in terms of access and service.
Set BC-wide standards, monitoring, funding, and leading across all provincial service lines where we do not provide direct care or where direct care is less prominent.
Engage with provincial stakeholders and leverage robust data and analytics to inform provincial clinical policy, professional practice, population health, service planning, and delivery network.
02 Clinical service delivery
PHSA's programs and services deliver specialized and direct patient care and make operational and long-term strategic planning decisions. They function as one dynamic organization that offers different specialty services.
Specialized Programs
BC Childrens Hospital
BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre
BC Centre for Disease Control
BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services
BC Transplant
BC Emergency Health Services
BC Cancer
Laboratory services play a key role in the healthcare system, with 50-70 per cent of clinical decisions, including treatment plans, based on laboratory test results.
Provincial Laboratory Medicine Services (PLMS) works to ensure the laboratory system is meeting the needs of British Columbians and adopting the latest technology, guidelines and techniques. Patient safety and quality of care are our top priorities.
PLMS includes lower mainland labs and the Provincial Blood Coordinating Office, as well as the responsibilities of the former BC Agency for Pathology and Lab Medicine.
03 Commercial services
Commercial services consist of lines of business behind the scenes but essential to the day-to-day operation of PHSA and the other health authorities.
Support all those who provide direct patient care, such as:
Supply chain
Payroll
Integrated protection services
Employee records & benefits
Look at more integrated, provincial service models.
04 Digital and information technology
Work with the Ministry of Health and our health authority partners on a provincial approach, planning for digital health and information services.
Develop a provincial digital health strategy and roadmap.
Create an implementation plan, as well as management and governance models.
