An intranet is a
private computer network
that uses Internet Protocols & network connectivity to securely share any part of an organization's information or operational systems with its employee
Information shared in intranet can be access only by authorized persons especially members or employees of the organization
Web pages on the intranet are not accessible to those outside the company; in fact, those pages would come up as "not found" if an employee tried to access them from outside the company's network

DISADVANTAGES
contain many security measures, vulnerable to security risks

A private network that securely share part of organization's or operations with suppliers, vendors, partners, customers or other businesses
An intranet that is partially accessible to authorized outsiders
Enable people who are located outside a company to work together with company's internally located employees
Provides ease in sharing data, graphics, documents & other form of communications while protecting a company's propriety information
The outside users are trusted partners of the organization who have access to information of their interest & concern
An extranet is open to selected suppliers, customers & other business partners who access it through the internet

: employees of organizations always depend on network & fail to take work serious it can negatively impact the performance of the company

: involves direct expenses such as hardwares, softwares & training of employees
