        Why did the Allies want to establish a supply line to Russia?
        
        Russia was very weak because they have very limited production and ammo, if the Allies could send stock into Russia, Russia would be a much greater force in the War.

- - - - When the U.S. joined the Allies the war had been going for a good three years. Europe had lost more men in battle than all the wars in the last three centuries combined. This conflict of the Great War took the lives of millions and changed the lives of countless people.
        
        Because World War I became a total war where many/ most countries used all the resources they could towards the war.
        
        In Britain, Austria, Germany, Russia, and France, the entirety of government force was dedicated to winning the conflict. In every country, the wartime government took over the economy. Governments told the factories in their country what the make and how much.
        
        Why did the wartime governments take control of their countries' economy?
        
        Answer: The governments took control of their countries' economy because if they didn't they probably wouldn't of had enough supplies for war.
        
        Government systems
        
        The Government system kinda changed during the war they spent all their time and energy on the war instead of on their people.
        
        Economics of WWI
        
        Many facilities were changed into munitions factories. Almost every able-bodied person was put to work in the factories. Unemployment in European countries basically disappeared.
        
        So many goods were in short supply that the governments turned to rationing. In this system, people could only buy small amounts of items that were also needed for war. This eventually covered a large range of goods.
        
        How did Total War lead to rationing?
        
        Answer: The soldiers and war efforts took the place for first priority so all the food and other items were being used for the soldiers and war efforts instead of the civilians.
        
        Markets
        
        The war messed with the markets and what was sold at markets.
      - Governments also tried their hardest to suppress antiwar activity. They also censored news about war because the leaders were afraid that the honest truth would turn people away from it.
    - - Because of Total War, which meant all the men that could were at war fighting, the governments turned to women for help. Women had jobs in factories, shops, and offices. Women built tanks, paved streets, plowed fields, and ran hospitals. They kept the troops stocked up with food, clothing, and weapons.
        
        Even though most women left the work force when the war ended the fact that they ran everything well the men were away for years changed the way that people saw women. They now knew women could do a lot more than they thought.
        
        Women also saw the terrors of the war firsthand as nurses working the front lines.
