Germany's parts in Africa and Asia became under assault. Japan attacked Germany's outpost in China. French and English troops attacked Germany's 4 African possessions.
Many other small countries would help the Allies to cut off Germany supply chain. This was the view of Indian political leader Mohandas Gandhi, who supported Indian participation in the war.
The Gallipoli Campaign
This Campaign was a strategy to invade Ottoman Empire, they wanted to gain control of the Dardanelles. This narrow sea strait was the gateway to Ottoman Empire Capital.
They wanted to control this area because then they can get a steady supply to Russia.
On February in 1915, they plan on invading the Dardanelles. The germans were leading the turks. It was a trench warfare and they fought all year till winter. The Allies retreated and left the campaign.
Why did the Allies want to establish a supply line to Russia?
They wanted to get supplies to Russia because they had a large army but they couldn't supply their own army. If you could get Russia supplies then they would be able to take out parts of Ottoman Empire and Germany.

The German did this earlier, The Germans sunk the Lusitania. It made the Americans mad.
The German knew that they would get involved in war with United States but they were desperate for an advanget over the Allies.
Americans found out that Germany sent a telegram to Mexico. They wanted help from Mexico and they would help gain the land they lost from America. This made America step closer to war with Germany. (The Zimmermann note)
America had a stronger connection with the Allies, because of England. On April 2, 1917, President Wilson asked Congress to declare war so that the United States could enter World War I.
How did the Zimmerman Note draw America into the war?
It led America to war because they just need a reason to go to war with the Central Power. Germany Sunk their ships and they didn't want to go to war because of that. When they found out about the Zimmermann Note that was a green flag for America to get to war.

By late May 1918, the Germans had again reached the Marne River. Paris was less than 40 miles away. Victory seemed within reach.

Russia Withdraws
In March 1917, civil unrest in Russia—due in large part to war-related shortages of food and fuel—forced Czar Nicholas to step down.
A provisional government was established.
The new government pledged to continue fighting the war. However, by 1917, nearly 5.5 million Russian soldiers had been wounded, killed, or taken prisoner.
In November 1917, Communist leader Vladimir Ilyich Lenin seized power.
Lenin insisted on ending his country’s involvement in the war. One of his first acts was to offer Germany a truce.
