    - - A strategy that the allies used was attacking the Dardanelles. This was a narrow gateway to the Ottoman Empires capital.
        
        The Allies thought that this would give them the advantage to build a supply line to Russia.
        
        Why did the allies want to establish a supply line to Russia?
        
        So that they could close in their alliances against Germany and create the two front war making Germany weaker as a whole.

        This attack had many casualties and led to protests.

        On November 9, 1918, Kaiser Wilhelm II stepped down. Germany declared itself a republic.

        when all of these things happened, Germany was all alone against the allies. they chose to stop fighting/surrender rather than fighting an unwinnable war

        Total war meant that governments turned to help from women as never before.
        
        Thousands of women replaced men in factories, offices, and shops. Women built tanks and munitions, plowed fields, paved streets, and ran hospitals.
        
        Distribution
        
        So many goods were in short supply that governments turned to rationing. Under this system, people could buy only small amounts of those items that were also needed for the war effort.
        
        Eventually, rationing covered a wide range of goods, from butter to shoe leather.

        Why did the wartime governments take control of their countries economies?
        
        To make sure all of the resources they made would go to help for the war.
        
        How did Total War lead to rationing?
        
        The country had to use all of the food to help the military, so there wasn't much food left for the people. The people had to ration it out, otherwise they would run out.

    - - This meant that countries devoted all their resources to the war effort. In Britain, Germany, Austria, Russia, and France, the entire force of government was dedicated to winning the conflict.
      - In each country, the wartime government took control of the economy. Governments told factories what to produce and how much.

        Numerous facilities were converted to munitions factories. Nearly every able-bodied civilian was put to work.

        The cost of the war was estimated at 338 Billion dollars. That was a lot of money for that time.

        Some strategies that contributed to all of the destruction would be the technological advancements. Like trench and air warfare. With air warfare they were able to drop bombs on the towns with one swoop.

        The peoples experiences from the war reflected the art and literature.
        
        At the end of the War peace agreements started to appaer.
        
        There was a lot of compromise that brought a sense of security and peace to the war.

        The survivors experienced disillusionment because of how many people were loss in the war. Since they were feeling that way they start spending more time on art and literature that reflected the war.
