Types and what to look for!
Squamous Cell Carcinoma
= may appear as a growling lump, often with a rough surface, or as a flat reddish patch that grows slowly
Melanoma
= pigment-producing cells (changes in skin color)
Basal Cell Carcinoma
= flat growth or raised pink/red translucent, shiny area that may bleed after minor injury
ABCDE RULE
Risk Factors
A lighter natural skin color.
Skin that burns, freckles, reddens easily, or becomes painful in the sun.
Blue or green eyes.
Blond or red hair.
Certain types and a large number of moles.
A family history of skin cancer.
A personal history of skin cancer.
Older age.
Exposure to UV Rays
Treatment
Treatment varies and may include surgery and sometimes chemotherapy and radiation.
