MYOLOGY OFC PART 2 - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Composed of two ligaments
      - Medial collateral ligament, connects the medial aspect or the articular disc to the condyle
      - Lateral collateral ligament, connects lateral aspect of articular disc to the condyle
      - Composed of collagenous connective tissue
    - - Composed of a thickening of deep cervical fascia
      - Extends from the styloid process and the ramus of the mandible
      - Helps limit anterior protrusion of the mandible
    - - Remnant of Meckel’s cartilage
      - Extends from the spine of the sphenoid to the lingula of the mandible
      - Act as pivot on the mandible
    - - Thickened ligament on the lateral aspect of the capsule
      - Prevents lateral and posterior displacement of the condyle
      - Outer oblique part, limits opening of the mandible
      - Inner horizontal part, limits posterior movement of the articular disc and the condyle
- - - - Interlocked with sharpey’s fibers
      - Little mobility or allows very slight
        movement
      - Simple sutures, meeting ends are smooth
      - Bevelled sutures, border overlaps one another
      - Sagittal sutures, borders have projections that interdigitate with each other
