Cross Link. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disorder which also effects many other systems in the older adult. One example is the sensory system. Diabetes will put the older adult at increased risk for cataracts and glaucoma.
Cross Link. Parkinson's disease is a nervous system disorder. However, it also affects many other systems. In Parkinson's disease loss of muscle control is common. This would play a negative affect on the musculoskeletal system.
Cross Link. Hypothyroidism is an endocrine system disorder. However, it affects many other systems. For example low thyroid levels directly affect the skin causing dryness, thickening, and scaling. This would be affecting the integumentary system as well.
Urinary tract infections are a common problem in older adults. They directly affect the urinary system but have connections with many other systems. For example a sign that can be seen in older adults with a UTI is confusion. Confusion would be affecting the neurological system as well in the older adult.
