What makes a good teacher, A group of recently graduated teachers came to…
-
A group of recently graduated teachers came to an institution. There, the old ones are uninterested in what the new ones have to say. Their discourse was oppressive and old-fashined but worthwhile, according to them.
The old teachers are shocked by the insights the new ones are implementing. Teaching only requires a dominant role, a dominance on a topic, and a strict relationship with the students
The new teachers show a display of emotions and attitudes towards the students and their process. It seems like they are ignoring the recomendations and are trying to waste the time, doing something else
Thus, the old teachers confront the new ones looking for answers for such a "odd" behavior . However, the new ones were expecting this response, and were prepared to explain
- We are building what we want to become; a good teacher - reply the new group with sympathy
We are sharing the way we are, and we are open to every possible situation
The old teachers are amused by such answers since it is not something that is related to teaching
They are biased and have never experienced a statement of that kind. They ignored the explanation and continue with the process. "Teaching has always had an unique way"
The new ones discuss what happened that day, and realise through reflection that what makes a good teacher is one that is capable to respect every opinion, and tries to guide a process of self-discovering
Since they discover this aspect, they have been trying to share with the old ones, express their thoughts, and maybe help each other
