Complex Relationship: Seneca Falls was the first Women’s Rights movement, and resulted in the Declaration of Sentiments, part of national reform, community response to market revolution, and the 2nd Great Awakening. The Women’s Rights movement was fighting for suffrage, right to own property, overall seeking equal rights, opportunities, & greater personal freedom for women. With the implementation of the Reconstruction Amendments, these freedoms and civil rights were awarded to Black men. This enraged women, because it further pushed them down the social hierarchy. It fueled the fire behind the Women's Rights movement, which had been kicked off with Seneca Falls.
