DISADVANTAGES: complex product mixture, expensive separation of the required product, easy contamination in the fermentor
SOLID STATE FERMENTATION: Microbes use solid nutrient rich waste material. it is simple and is used for long fermentation periods.
SUBMERGED FERMENTATION: Dissolved or liquid state subtraes are used by microbes to produce bioactive metabolites. It is best for bacteria which require high moisture content and produce secondary metabolites in liquid form.
THREE MAIN FERMENTAION MODES: Batch fermentation, Continous fermentation, Fed batch fermentation
