"Types of nouns"
Collective nouns - indicate groups gathering of living beings and inanimate objects. Collective nouns often denote groups of people and animals.
(Family, class, crowd, set)
Countable nouns indicate creatures or inanimate objects, as well as concepts that can be counted. Such nouns have the singular form and the plural form, which in most cases is formed by adding the ending -s, but some nouns have an irregular plural form (Irregular plural nouns). (A dog, a student, a man, a mouse, two dogs, ten students, six men, many mice)
Concrete (concrete) - real objects, living beings. (A building, a girl, a pen, a problem, a feeling, an invitation)
Abstract (abstract) - abstract concepts, emotions, feelings.
English nouns are divided into simple , derived and compound nouns according to the method of creation . Also, all nouns are divided into common and proper names.
Simple nouns consist of a single root and have no suffixes or prefixes . Often these are monosyllabic words (words consisting of only one syllable). (Man, house, star, love)
Derivative Nouns consist of a root with the addition of suffixes or prefixes. (Brother hood, engineer, actress, immortality)
Compound nouns are formed from two or more word roots. They can be formed by compiling the basics of not only nouns but also other parts of speech ( adjectives, verbs, prepositions). Noun + noun (fireman, fire, man). noun + verb (waterfall, water, fall)
Own names - a noun, indicating the unique, individual objects to certain individuals, concepts. Proper names are always written in capital letters. They can be used with definitions article the or without it.
Proper names , pseudonyms, nicknames, nicknames of animals (Peter Johnson, Dwayne The Rock, Iron Arny, Butch, Scarlett the cat, Boo the rat)
Geographical names (mountains, deserts, rivers, oceans, countries, cities, etc.). (Mount Fuji, Asia, England, New York, the Great Lakes, the Pacific Ocean, the Black Sea, the Amazon River)
Nationality and language (English, Spanish, the French)
Names of streets , squares, parks, bridges, houses, hotels, museums, ships (Fifth Avenue, Times Square, Central Park, London Bridge, The Louvre Museum, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Cruiser Aurora)
Names of organizations , institutions, firms, companies, newspapers, magazines (World Wildlife Fund, United Nations, McDonald's, The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post)
Names of celestial bodies (The Sun, the Earth, Mars, Alpha Centauri)
Names of days of the week, months (Monday, Sunday, August, January)
Names of holidays, important events (Christmas, New Year, Birthday, Mother's Day, Independence Day)
Countless nouns - cannot be counted and do not have a plural form. They are divided into abstract and material
Abstract innumerable concepts (abstract nouns). (Music, love, information)
Material (material nouns): the names of materials, liquids, substances. (Water, cotton, iron)
Common name indicate the general name items, materials, people and concepts of their categories and groups. (Human, feeling, animal, love, father, bus)
