The drivers are on UBERESUE’s supply side, and they may join or leave at any time. It is critical to have a sufficient quantity of them to provide the consumer offering (timely pick-up at low cost). They bring their own automobiles into the value offer, for which UBERESUE incurs no capital expenditures. The key indirect network effects do not kick in without a critical number of drivers, which is why UBERESUE increases supply when they enter a new city. However, even when drivers have been onboarded, there remains the continuous question of their work status, compensation, benefits, and so on, which we shall examine.
